Dinner / Dance Fund Raiser?

Hi, I'm planning to do the auction, dinner / dance fundraiser with a silent. It is for the CCFA, a nonprofit organization. I'm not sure where to start yet. We have not much money to rent a hall or book a caterer once, we would have to First start and fundraising donations right. Any ideas what should I do?
